8 cone passing pattern
A basic group passing pattern for working on back foot receiving, and follow-your-pass flow;
Setup
Set up 8 cones as shown in diagram; one player per cone, then add’l player on starting cone behind each ball used
Instructions
- Player with ball passes to next cone, aiming for back foot of teammate; Follow your pass
Progressions
start with one ball but can incorporate two balls (need cones+X for X balls, e.g., 9 players to do one ball, 10 for two)
Coaching Emphasis
Target your teammates correct foot to make the next pass; Open your hips/body and receive on back foot; Can you check to defender then open up/back up to receive pass (first move for the defender) Quick two-touch if you can - how fast can you progress the ball around with flow? Explode to the next cone when following your pass
